Secondary Bible Themes 2 - Soul, Mouth, Eat

Here is a list of themes in the Bible. The Bible has a thematic connection between eating with the mouth and the soul.

"A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; But the soul of the treacherous'shall eat violence." -Proverbs 13:2

"It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” -Matthew 15:11

“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." - Romans 10:8-10


In the early church, there was a saying, "Semper in ore psalmus, semper in corde Christus", which translates to, "Always a Psalm on the lips, always Christ in the heart."


It is no wonder, then, when God wanted an earthly element for a sacrament, that he chose eating his body and his blood to forgive our sins and redeem our souls.
